Big Tour for Kölz, Lewicki in the lead
Friday’s Big Tour competition counting toward the world ranking at the Perlage CAVALIADA Tour in Kraków ended with victory for Germany’s Michael Kölz. Marek Lewicki became the leader of Perlage CAVALIADA Tour ahead of the final.
In the Big Tour, for the prize of the Marshal of the Małopolska Region and under the patronage of the Baborówko Equestrian Association, 44 horse-and-rider pairs competed today. This class counted toward the world ranking, the Perlage CAVALIADA Tour ranking, and the FEI World Cup Central European League Final. The first course, with fences set at 150 cm and designed by Switzerland’s Gérard Lachat, was quite technical. In the end, eight pairs qualified for the jump-off – four from Germany, two from Poland, and one each from the Netherlands and Lithuania. In the final jump-off, Michael Kölz, who started second, set the bar very high – almost under the ceiling of the Tauron Arena, stopping the clock at 35.43 seconds, and no one managed to beat that result. Second place went to another German rider, Magnus Schmidt on Carl Gustav 7, who opted for precision, while the Top 3 was completed with one knockdown by Poland’s Marek Lewicki with Quadis II.

„I feel great, I’m very proud of my horse” – said the winner – „I had a good feeling this week and the horse is in great shape. Two years ago I was also in the jump-off here and I was second. Today I decided to try a bit harder and I finished with a win. It’s a very nice show, and the audiences give us a great feeling and it’s a lot of fun to be here!”

With today’s result, Marek Lewicki became the new leader of Perlage CAVALIADA Tour ahead of Sunday’s final, with 57 points to his name. Maksymilian Wechta dropped to second place with 51 points, and Germany’s Harm Lahde closes the Top 3 with 41 points. Everything will be decided in Sunday’s Perlage CAVALIADA Tour Grand Prix of Kraków.
