CAVALIADA Sopot – equestrian stars in the lineup
Nearly 200 pairs from 11 countries will compete at the CAVALIADA Sopot, which starts next Thursday, 23 January. Fans will especially welcome the return of the crowd favourite - home hero Jarosław Skrzyczyński.
ERGO Arena will host CAVALIADA for the fourth time. Among the guests from abroad we will see titled riders, who will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the most important competitions counting for the world ranking. Germany’s Felix Hassmann will visit Sopot - the triumpher of four Grand Prix competitions in the Poznań Interntional Fair arena, who already has more than 100 victories in Longines Rankings classes to his credit. His compatriot - last year's winner of the CAVALIADA Sopot Grand Prix, Harm Lahde, who is ranked 8th in the CAVALIADA Tour ranking after two stages, will also certainly want to fight for a good result.
Another star is Swede Douglas Lindelöw - the 2017 senior European team vice-champion and winner of the 2018 World Cup competition in Oslo. Known for his dynamic riding, Greek Angelos Touloupis - the 2021 Balkan champion – will bring his especially fast horse Lord Mexx with him. We will also host the Lithuanian champion Matas Petraitis, the winner of Friday’s ranking class last year at CAVALIADA Sopot. The younger generation is represented by the 20-year-old 2023 European junior champion in Eventing and the current team champion of this discipline in the young rider category - Germany's Mathies Rüder.
After a five-month break due to injury, seven-time CAVALIADA Tour winner and four-time Polish Champion Jarosław Skrzyczyński returns to the equestrian rivalry. The horses he will ve taking are Komboy, with whom he triumphed in the final of the Medium Tour at CAVALIADA Poznań in 2023, and Inturido, his winner of Grand Prix competitions during the first two editions of CAVALIADA Sopot in 2022 and 2023. We will also see other top home athletes, such as Marek Wacławik, the fourth rider in the Polish Equestrian Federation's ranking and the runner-up of the CAVALIADA Grand Prix in Kraków. Facing a chance to move up the CAVALIADA Tour table is Mściwoj Kiecoń - currently third in this ranking and the highest ranked Polish representative. Also visiting Sopot will be 2013 Polish champion and two-time CAVALIADA Grand Prix winner Marek Lewicki, as well as Kamil Grzelczyk - the 2016 national champions, who has already won 28 Longines Rankings classesin his career. The list of entered pairs is completed by the riders of the Respect Energy Open Tour, who will compete in classes from 110 to 125 cm.
On 23-26 January the ERGO Arena will host representatives of Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Ukraine. During the 4 days of competition, 15 jumping classes will be held as part of CSI2* and CSIAm. The most important ones are those counting for world ranking - Friday's Big Tour and Sunday's Grand Prix.
