CAVALIADA and Cracow will have to wait
Following the decision of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), which is based on the spread of the Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1), Cavaliada Kraków will not take place as previously planned, from the 11th until the 14th of March 2021.
The FEI has cancelled international events in 10 countries on the European mainland, including in Poland, with immediate effect and until 28 March 2021.
“This was not an easy decision to block events in mainland Europe, particularly after the major disruption to the FEI Calendar caused by the Covid-19 pandemic”, FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said, “but this EHV-1 outbreak is probably the most serious we have had in Europe for many decades and our decision is based on clearly identified epidemiological risk factors. “This strain of EHV-1 is particularly aggressive and has already caused equine fatalities and a very large number of severe clinical cases. We need to keep our horses safe.”
Shows have been cancelled in the following countries: France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Poland, Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia. This unfortunately means that CAVALIADA Kraków – World Cup Central European League Final – cannot take place as previously planned, from the 11th until the 14th of March 2021.
- “Unfortunately, due to the current situation we cannot organize the World Cup Central European League Final that we have all been waiting for and preparing for the last few months. We understand the FEI’s decision and we stand united with the whole equestrian community, hoping that these restrictions will help limit the spread of the virus. It is important to us that the athletes can get back to competing at international arenas as soon as possible and prepare for the Tokyo Olympics. We hope that we will all meet again soon at Cavaliada.” – says Filip Bittner, vice-president of the board of Grupa MTP and chairman of the Cavaliada Tour organizing committee.
