More than 300 competitors from 34 countries and more than 500 horses will take part in jumping competitions where the prize pool totals PLN 900,000. The line-up is full of world-class competitors, such as five-time Olympic winner Michael Whitaker (GBR), team Champion of the World and Europe, silver medalist of the London Olympic Games Jur Vrieling (NED), two-time winner of the CAVALIADA Poznań Grand Prix Felix Hassmann (GER), winner of the world’s most highly rewarded Grand Prix contest held within the Rolex Grand Slam Sameh El Dahan (EGY), Andrew Kocher (USA) or Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT). Top Polish athletes will also appear: three medalists of this year’s Polish Championships – Wojciech Wojcianiec, Michał Kaźmierczak and Krzysztof Ludwiczak, as well as the leader of the PZJ ranking, four-time Polish Champion, six-time winner of the CAVALIADA Tour series Jarosław Skrzyczyński.
Amongst the registered are 5 athletes from the FEI TOP 100 ranking, 5 athletes ranked in the TOP 10 of the Central European League of the World Cup and 6 couples from the Top 10 of the Olympic rankings Group C. Let us not forget that the battle for getting a place in the Olympic Games lasts only until the end of the year. Because of that, CAVALIADA in Poznań is an important step on the way to Tokyo for the athletes. Two contests will be crucial – the Friday’s Big Round contest for the MTP Group award under the patronage of Horse & Business Magazine, included in the Longines ranking, CAVALIADA Tour and the Olympic rankings, as well as the Sunday’s Grand Prix for the award of the President of PKO Bank Polski, under the patronage of the President of the City of Poznań, where the winner will score as much as 100 points for the Olympic rankings, 100 points to the Longines ranking, as well as points to the Central European League of the World Cup and CAVALIADA Tour rankings, in addition to the cash prize.
In the time of these contests it is worth paying attention to the following couples: leader of Group C Kristaps Neretnieks from Latvia with Moon Ray, Wojciech Wojcianiec with Chintablue (3rd place), Andrzej Opłatek with Stakkatan (4th place), Paul-Richard Argus from Estonia with Renessin (5th place), Jan Bobik with Chacco Amicor (6th place) and Maksymilian Wecht with Quinchell (8th place).
The Medium Round competition (140 – 145 cm) also promises to be very attractive. On Saturday, it will be concluded with two Longines Ranking competitions (prize pools of PLN 100,000 each); a classic one with a playoff and the audience’s favourite Speed & Music contest for the award of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region under the patronage of Radio ESKA. The agenda will be complemented by the Puissance competition for the award of the MTP Group under the patronage of Telewizja Polska S.A. This time the competition has been scheduled for Friday evening. The CSI 4*-W will also feature Small Round competitions (135 cm).
CAVALIADA Poznań also hosts CSI competitions for young horses (6 and 7 years old) and CSI1* ranging from 120 to 135 cm. Most of them will be held in Arena B. This year however, couples participating in one-star contests will be able to perform in the main course twice; first on Thursday evening during the WECHTA Venus vs. Mars competition, then on Saturday in the finals for one-star competitions.
The show jumping event will be complemented by CAVALIADA Future – popular contests for children riding ponies traditionally held for the award of PKO Bank Polski under the patronage of Torpol. We will be able to support the youngest children three times – during the Saturday’s competition at 10:45 a.m., in the relay race in the evening where children compete in a team with adult competitors, and during the finals of the competition on Sunday at 10:20 a.m.
