The CAVALIADA Tour 2018/2019 was unique in many ways. We added another location to the series – Kraków, as well as managed to achieve our goal of raising the rank of the competition in Poznań, which last year was held as a four-star event for the first time. This led to the line-up, which has truly been full of stars for several years now in Poznań, to exceed all expectations once more. The spectators gathered in the stands could admire, among others, the world vice-champion Martin Fuchs from Switzerland, Olympic vice-champion and winner of the Longines Global Champions Tour Rolf-Goran Bengtsson from Sweden and the Olympic medalist and European champion Marco Kutscher from Germany, as well as the best Polish show jumping athletes, including Jarosław Skrzyczyński. The high sports level was particularly noticeable during the most important competition, the Poznań Grand Prix for the award of the President of PKO Bank Polski, under the patronage of the President of Poznań. This competition was ranked in the world ranking group B, which means that the winner received a total of 100 points. The winner turned out to be the one and only Jarosław Skrzyczyński, who rode the mare Chacclana. This victory directly contributed to the historic advancement of a Pole in the Longines ranking, seeing Jarosław Skrzyczyński advance from 61st to 51st place in the December standings. None of the biggest equestrian events in the world would be ashamed of such a sports level and atmosphere as we those we witnessed in Hall 5 of the Poznań International Fair. The competition in the final was fierce and the leader changed several times, but the Poles dominated in the end. The second place went to Michał Kaźmierczak riding Stakorado, and the third place was taken by a young representative of Germany, Rupert Carl Winkelmann, who visited Poland for the first time for Cavaliada. “Before coming to Poznań I did not know what to expect. I remember that feeling when I first entered the main arena here. I was surprised how beautiful everything looked! During the competitions the audience was amazing, people were cheering for the music loudly, the energy was amazing, so it was really nice to ride here.”

The next stop on the map of the Cavaliada stages was Lublin, for the seventh time in a row, where competitions were held at the rank of CSI2*. At the start we saw over 120 competitors from seven countries and nearly 240 horses. Loved by the athletes, the audience in Lublin did not fail in terms of both attendance and support. The Lublin Grand Prix for the award of the President of the Management Board of PKO Bank Polski, under the patronage of the Marshal of the Lublin Province, saw the victory of one of the favorite athletes, yet it was not Jarosław Skrzyczyński this time. Only the Poles made it to the game. The winner was Krzysztof Ludwiczak riding Nordwind. They were the only ones to have successfully repeated a flawless run in the game. It was also a nice surprise to see the junior competitor, Filip Lewicki riding Corrado X, take the second place. This young athlete was close to repeating the success of his dad, Marek, who had won Cavaliada in Lublin in 2013.

After Lublin the time came for the most anticipated equestrian event in the country, that is the first ever Cavaliada in Kraków. For many years this location has been in the radar of the Poznań International Fair, mainly due to the Kraków’s TAURON Arena, which offered comfortable conditions for competitors, excellent exhibition space for exhibitors and excellent conditions for experiencing beautiful equestrian sensations at the highest level. The venue proved its great value to the organizers, fans and athletes. From the very first day, when we saw the first horses go in the TAURON Arena Park, we knew it was a hit.

The CSI2* Kraków Grand Prix for the award of the President of the Management Board of PKO Bank Polski, under the patronage of the President of Kraków, was the most important of the competitions. Only four couples managed to get into the game. Adam Grzegorzewski was the first to ride his irreplaceable Okraino. Then we saw a precise and flawless passage of Jarosław Skrzyczyński on Chacclana. It seemed that his time would allow him to win the world ranking competition for the second time in a row (he won in Kraków on Friday); however, a moment later Wojciech Wojcianiec on Cassio Melloni was better than Skrzyczynski and claimed the victory. The third was Michael Kolz from Germany on FST Dipylon.

“The TAURON Arena is beautiful. It’s great to ride, there’s plenty of space, the infrastructure is great. Now we are going to Warsaw and the first competitions will reveal who will be competing in the Grand Prix,” said Wojciech Wojcianiec, and that is exactly what happened. Just a few days later, the athletes from Europe met at the grand finale of the World Cup Central European League, the last stop of CAVALIADA Tour 2018/2019 in Warsaw.

First, the fans watched the final battle for medals in the Eventing Polish Indoor Cup. It was the third time in a row that Mateusz Kiempa had proven to be the best. The second turn of the cross trial, where only the medalists were able to pass the course flawlessly, provided the fans with extraordinary sensations. Mateusz Kiempa riding Jak Chef, was the fastest. Not only did he win the final competition, but also the gold medal of the Polish Indoor Cup.  The gold medal of the Four-in-hand Polish Indoor Cup went to Adrian Kostrzewa (grooms: Filip Nowacki and Daniel Kłosowski). Although they took the third place in the Warsaw finals, the three victories (one in Poznań and two in Lublin) gave them the second victory in the Four-in-hand Polish Indoor Cup. Ilona Janas triumphed in the Cavaliada Dressage Cup on Lord Django, whereas Martyna Ufnal and Marcelina Jackowiak turned out to be the champions of Cavaliada Future.

The most important competition, the Warsaw Grand Prix for the award of the President of the Management Board of PKO Bank Polski, under the patronage of the MTP Group, saw a superb victory of Wojciech Wojcianiec on Naccord Melloni. Apart from Wojcianiec, only Radosław Zalewski managed to get to the game on Ilatin. It was there that Zalewski was the first one to go, having one drop. The same happened to Wojcianiec, but his very fast ride through the course gave him a clear victory. The third place went to Estonian, Kullo Kender and his horse Artas. Jarosław Skrzyczyński on Chacclana came fourth. Thanks to these results, the first three places in the final of the World Cup Central European League went to: Skrzyczyński, Kedner and Wojcianiec and it was them who would go to Gothenburg to compete in the World Cup final. This competition also revealed the best competitors in CAVALIADA Tour 2018/2019. Jarosław Skrzyczyński proved to be the best for the fifth time. The second place went to Wojciech Wojcianiec and the third place to Krzysztof Ludwiczak.

Incredible excitement among the competitors, emotional support given by many spectators, great results of the Poles, historic advancement in the world ranking, possibility to start in the World Cup finals won by Jarosław Skrzyczyński and Wojciech Wojcianiec, the first ever equestrian competition in the TAURON Arena – all these will go down in the pages of Polish equestrian history and in the history of CAVALIADA Tour. We are looking forward to what the next year will bring. See you in December in Poznań!
