Through the leader’s eyes

27 February 2019

More than 220 couples from 15 countries entered the CSI competition at Cavaliada Warsaw. This year’s competition at the Central European League World Cup finals promises extraordinarily interesting indeed.

From 7 to 10 March, the CSI3*-W competition will see athletes from Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia and obviously Poland. As far as sports is concerned, the final of the Central European League World Cup is in the spotlight. There will be 20 athletes fighting for the three places which guarantee promotion to the world finals in Gothenburg (4-7 April).

The International Federation for Equestrian Sports has published a ranking reflecting the five best results of the season of riders in the southern and northern sub-divisions. In the lead is Jarosław Skrzyczyński, who won three qualifying contests (Pezinok, Leszno, Poznań). The second and third places belong to Estonians Kullo Kender and Rein Pill respectively. Wojciech Wojcianiec (6th place) and Maksymilian Wechta (8th place) also have good starting positions.

Let us remind you that the league finals will involve three competitions: 145 cm speed contest on Thursday, 150 cm contest including jump-off on Friday, and 155 cm Grand Prix on Sunday. They are open competitions in which, alongside the leading riders of our part of Europe, we will see many excellent riders from the West, such as German vice-champion Michael Kolz, Austrian Gerfried Puck, Dutchman Sander Geerink, Belgian Jan Vinckier as well as Italians Eugenio and Guido Grimaldi. They will all fight not only for high bonuses (over half a million zlotys) and points to the world ranking, but also for the top positions in the final ranking of the Cavaliada Tour 2018/19.
